OLD FASHIONED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

3/4 cup butter (softened) 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 tbsp vanilla extract 2 cups chocolate chips 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, bround sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto un-greased baking sheet. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 12 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on pan before removing to wire rack. Yield: approximately 45.
